The Left Hates What We Do Dear Fellow Citizens and Taxpayers, I just sent a quick message to Cincinnati Tea Party supporters, but this newsletter reaches thousands of more people around Ohio and I thought you should see this as well. It may come as no surprise to you but, the left hates what we do. Sure many of the politicians hate us, but the left really hates us. Why? It's simple - we value clarity, truth, openness and debate. We actually treasure the marketplace of ideas and depend on the judgment of a democratic society to manage our Republic - not judges and not the subjugation of truth, and certainly not the elimination of choices. You see - logic, reason and truth are enemies of the left. When you build an entire belief system on emotion without consideration of outcomes, you are willing to encourage supporters to stand up against free will - more specifically the freedom to choose. Merit is just not part of the equation. It's this strange moral relativism that drives the left down a never ending path to justification of any actions for their sacred goal - equality (at any cost). And by equality, they mean manufactured equality. Not the kind of equality we believe in, which is that liberty demands that men begin life equal to every other while character and accomplishment define their stature moving forward. Government should not favor one individual or group over others in an attempt to achieve equality. They are ok with compromising any principle, like free speech, in order to accomplish that goal. As an example, see speech codes on college campuses, displays and protests to stop people from making a speech, the Pelosi supported Fairness doctrine, etc, etc. In this particular instance, they are opposed to giving Ohioans a choice to decide their future on healthcare. See message below from a group called Progress Ohio: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Begin Progress Ohio Email
Do you have just a few minutes to make a simple phone call that will make a big difference? This Saturday the Tea Party and their supporters will be collecting signatures to repeal the new federal health care law and to end the estate tax for Ohio as part of their Freedom Day at Kings Island. Help us send a message to Kings Island and their parent company Cedar Fair that it is wrong to allow petition signature gathering against programs that have benefited many their 3 million annual visitors - many of them being Ohioans. Due to passage of the health care reform bill, already over 5,000 people in Ohio who were previously shut out of insurance because of pre-existing conditions will now be eligible for coverage. And 80 percent of estate taxes collected in Ohio benefits local communities. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>End Progress Ohio E-mail By the way - I took out the last part of their e-mail because it provided specific contacts and phone numbers of Kings Island employees who Progress Ohio asked supporters to call and voice their opposition to the petitions being allowed at the event.
Back to my point - This is a truly bizarre thing, don't you think?
Effectively they are asking followers to support robbing Ohioans of an opportunity to choose their own future on healthcare. They don't even want people to have the choice? Does that make any sense?
This is very different than campaigning against something when it's on the ballot or making principled and opposing statements about the issue. I get that. We all do that. But, this is an attempt squash people from even getting a chance to choose.
If they draft a citizen initiative which I oppose, I will make no effort to obstruct their ability to give people choice on the matter. Blocking choice is not part of my belief system.
This is their quote ..."it is wrong to allow petition signature gathering against programs that have benefited many their 3 million annual visitors"
Really? How? What would make it right? I guess it would be made right if it's an issue they support. I see how it works. Wrong for one, right for another. Isn't that a double standard? Aren't "progressives" opposed to double standards? Wait a minute, never mind - I forgot for a second. Liberty minded people oppose double standards, not progressives. They are ok with double standards for practically everything - especially when it benefits them.
Because when you have the goal of manufacturing equality, no amount of inconsistency is a price too high pay. Besides - being on the left means never having to say you're sorry. It's got to feel good to have absolutely no accountability for your decisions.
Who else works that way...mmm...that's right - little children. See any equivocation on matters of discernment? I do.
So, if you enjoy sticking it to the left - please join me this Saturday, September 4th at Kings Island with me and a couple thousand of my friends. We'll be celebrating Liberty, not tyranny!
PS: Progress Ohio - If you want to host a Friends of Tyranny Day at Kings Island - I'll support your right to do so. Good luck in your future endeavors, and we'll see you on the ballot with our Healthcare Freedom Amendment!
God Bless our Republic!
Sincerely, Chris Littleton President and Co-Founder, Ohio Liberty Council President, Cincinnati Tea Party
